Intro to the Trades Boot Camp

Congratulations on your upcoming high school graduation!  As you prepare yourself to continue your education or go directly into the workforce, the CEC is accepting applications from select high school graduates to attend the 2019 CEC Intro to the Trades Boot Camp.  The five-week Boot Camp will provide a variety of learning and interactive experiences for those looking to get hired in the Construction Industry.  Applicants will also have an opportunity to network with local employers and start learning how to develop a career path in the Industry.

The Boot Camp will be held from July 8 - August 9, 2019 at the Construction Education Center in Plainville, CT. Classes meet Monday thru Thursday from 7am-1pm . Fridays will be reserved for job site shadowing and industry round tables. Topics such as Safety, Intro to Construction Math, Intro to Construction Drawings, Power Tools, Hand Tools, Expectations of the Industry, Communication Skills, Teamwork, and Interviewing with Company Representatives will be covered. This course gives applicants a jump-start on Apprenticeship hours and credits. Applicants will also complete multiple certification courses such as Fall Protection, Lift & Lull Training, and OSHA 30.  A job fair will be held at the end of the Boot Camp for successful students.

Acceptance to attend the CEC Intro to the Trades Boot Camp is by invitation only, contingent upon a committee review of the completed application and essay.  Please submit the completed Application with the required Essay as instructed no later than June 3, 2019. Incomplete applications will not be considered for committee review.   If you are accepted, you will be notified no later than June 14th.
