The Construction Education Center provides 1-day test prep courses for the Connecticut mechanical licenses of SM-2, S-2, D-2 and P-2. Our instructors have in depth knowledge of codes and trade information to assist you in preparing for these important industry examinations.

Sheet Metal (SM2) License Exam Prep Course
The Construction Education Center is now offering an 8-hour prep course to help apprentices prepare for the Connecticut License exam.
This course will:

• Review test taking procedures
• Review all reference materials indicated in the PSI Information Bulletin
• Review key definitions outlined in the International Mechanical Code and other code books

The following materials are required for the course. Attendees without all of the materials the day of class will be rescheduled for another date.  Individules registering for the course can purchase required materials through various book sellers.

HVAC (S2) License Exam Prep Course
The Construction Education Center is now offering an 8-hour prep course to help apprentices prepare for the Connecticut License exam.
This course will:

• Review test taking procedures
• Review all reference materials indicated in the PSI Information Bulletin
• Review key definitions outlined in the International Mechanical Code and other code books

Fuel Gas Piping
This 8-hour program will help individuals gain a deeper understanding of fuel gas piping. Individuals enrolled will also learn how to size gas piping using the longest method. The program can also assist those who are preparing for their Connecticut License Exam with respect to the S2 or S1 license. Our classes are instructed by experience license holders who real world experience in the field and in taking the state licensing exams.
Required Material – 2006 NFPA 54 Fuel Gas Code
Topics covered:

• Definitions
• Pipe sizing and pipe sizing methods
• Gas Piping system design, materials, and components
• Procedures to be followed to place appliance in operation
• Gas piping installations Installation of specific appliances
• Appliance equipment and accessory installation
• Inspection, testing and purging
• Venting of appliances
• Sizing of Category I venting systems


Load Calculations
This 8-hour program will help individuals gain a deeper understanding of load calculations. The program can also assist those who are preparing for their Connecticut License Exam with respect to the S2 or S1 license. Our classes are instructed by experience license holders who real world experience in the field and in taking the state licensing exams.

• Heat transmission through structural components
• Review of how to read tables

Contractor’s Guide to Business Law & Project Management
This course will help individuals gain a deeper understanding of the material covered in the text. Utilizing the outline below, individuals will gain a better understanding of making a business plan, what you need when starting a new business, and the elements of a successful construction business. The program will also touch on the administrative functions and financial management. The program is ideal for individuals preparing for the Connecticut License Exam with respect to contractor’s licenses. Our classes are instructed by experience license holders who real world experience in the field and in taking the state licensing exams.
