Update: CEC Response to COVID-19

UPDATE March 20, 2020, 4:40pm

Today at 3:30pm, Governor Ned Lamont issued the “Stay Safe Stay Home” initiative to promote social distancing and slow the spread of the coronavirus.

NCCER, our accrediting body, currently is still mandating testing and performance profiles to be conducted in-person only.  Should this change, instructors and apprentices will be notified. Apprentice programs with curriculum online can continue instruction online.  At this time, testing may be completed once the Stay Safe Stay Home initiative has been lifted. Apprenticeship programs without an online component will resume once the Stay Safe Stay Home initiative has been lifted.

Governor Lamont stated that 194 residents in Connecticut are infected with the coronavirus and a fourth fatality in Fairfield County has been reported.  Forty people are currently hospitalized in Connecticut with COVID-19 and the State of Connecticut is currently able to test 1,000 potential cases a day.

Staff at CT ABC and CEC will remain working remotely.  Should you have any questions regarding apprenticeship, continuing education or any other class, please contact us via email,

Stay safe & stay healthy!

The Construction Education Center continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  Our priority remains the health and safety of our apprentices, students, instructors, staff, industry partners and our community.  Currently, in-person apprenticeship classes are suspended until at least Friday, March 27.  Effective Monday, March 16, 2020, apprenticeship courses with an online component are to be completed online until at least Friday, March 27, 2020.   We are working with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), our accrediting body, for solutions to some of the curriculum issues, including final module testing, that we are facing. We will notify all apprentices of a resolution as soon as we can.

For all other classes, currently all scheduled continuing education, safety and professional development classes are cancelled at least through the end of March.  We will rescheduled all registrants for at later class date in order to obtain certification requirements.

This is an unprecedented situation for us all and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Please feel free to reach out at any time,
