The Construction Education Center Announces New Electrical Apprenticeship Program

The Construction Education Center, Inc. (CEC) is Connecticut’s newest resource for electrical apprenticeship training. The new apprenticeship program prepares trainees for a career in the electrical field with a comprehensive four-level electrical curriculum, accredited by the National Center for Construction Education & Research, that complies with the Department of Labor’s standards for apprenticeship.

“This is a natural extension of training the CEC already provides,” said CEC Director Marcie Addy. “The demand for electricians in Connecticut is expected to increase 4.8% through the end of 2026.  Workforce development and training is our priority and given the shortage of skilled workers nationwide, the addition of the electrical apprenticeship program to our catalog will help address the needs of the construction industry.”  The Construction Education Center is also an approved provider (#1275) of electrical continuing education in the State of Connecticut.

The CEC’s electrical apprenticeship program is a hybrid of instructional methods including virtual online interactive, classroom, hands-on and online training. Apprenticeship classes take place at night, allowing trainees to work during the day to earn their paycheck and their required on the job training hours.

“The Electrical apprenticeship program not only expands training offerings at the CEC but gives the State of Connecticut another educational option for electricians,” said Jacqueline Laramee, Chair of the CEC Board of Directors.  “Apprenticeship programs we already offer include HVAC, Plumbing, Sheet Metal and Carpentry.  We see our programs as part of the broader effort to enhance workforce development opportunities.”

As a non-profit organization, the CEC offers high quality training at an affordable price.Yearly tuition is $1,850.  The CEC provides a grant to Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut member employees for part of their tuition.  For more information, please contact us by email or call 860-529-5886.
